- How much the rent is, the day it's due each month, and where to pay it.
- What the bills cover, how they're split, and when the annual bills settlement (Nebenkostenabrechnung) comes.
- The deposit: how much, and how and when it's returned.
- How the broadcasting fee (Rundfunkbeitrag) is shared, since the flat pays it once.
Living together
- The house rules and the cleaning rota.
- Rubbish: what goes in which bin, and the collection days.
- Heating and airing: open the windows fully for a few minutes a few times a day (Stoßlüften) to prevent mould.
- Where the Wi-Fi password, the spare keys and the first-aid kit are.
Admin and help
- They need the landlord's confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung) to register their address within two weeks.
- Who to call when something breaks, and what counts as an emergency.
- How much notice they need to give when they move out.
